In a recent spotlight by the journal Iontronics, Prof. Rodrigo Martins discusses the emerging interdisciplinary field that is redefining the relationship between electronics and sustainable chemistry.

Francisco Sousa was honored with the “Outstanding Poster Award” at the 52nd German Liquid Crystal Conference, held at the University of Luxembourg from April 8 to 10, 2026.

On April 23, at 14:00, NANOMAT Talk #19 will take place, featuring Dr. Ana Paula Serro, Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering at the Instituto Superior Técnico (University of Lisbon).

The seminar, titled “Engineering drug-eluting ophthalmic lenses: from materials design to clinical safety and efficacy”, will take place in the Leopoldo Guimarães Amphitheater.

The article explores Professor's trajectory from a student at NOVA FCT to a world-renowned leader in Materials Science. It focuses on the groundbreaking INVISIBLE project, which led to the creation of the first paper transistor - a feat that earned the European Commission’s Horizon Impact Award for its rapid transition from lab discovery to industrial application with partners like Samsung.

CENIMAT-i3N recently had the pleasure of welcoming Prof. Ute Kaiser, Full Professor at Ulm University, Germany, and Head of the Group of Materials Science Electron Microscopy, for a scientific visit aimed at strengthening future collaboration.

The work stems from the PhD research of Diogo Carvalho, supervised by Maria Rosário P. Correia (i3N) and Paulo Fernandes (i3N and NOA-INL).
