Francisco Sousa Receives Outstanding Poster Award at the 52nd German Liquid Crystal Conference

Francisco Sousa, DynaCellCollect Fellow, was honored with the “Outstanding Poster Award” at the 52nd German Liquid Crystal Conference, held at the University of Luxembourg from April 8 to 10, 2026.

The award recognizes the innovation and technical excellence of his work, titled “Lignin-Cellulose Liquid Crystalline Systems: from Structural Colour to Moisture-Induced Motion.” His research introduces sustainable lignin- and cellulose-based systems capable of generating structural color and performing moisture-induced movement.

This international distinction highlights Francisco’s scientific merit and the growing importance of sustainable, functional materials in the field of liquid crystals.
