ANNOUNCEMENT TO AWARD A RESEARCH GRANT TO A PHD STUDENT

The Structural Composites Research group of the Institute for Sustainability and Innovation in Structural Engineering (ISISE), University of Minho, Portugal, is opening a research grant for PhD Students to develop research activities within the I&D Project FemWebAI, co-financed by financed by Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT).

The research activities: Collaboration in the development of a web-based information platform with a database ecosystem (DBE) for the support of the predictive performance of FEM-based computer programs in the analysis and design of fibre reinforced concrete (FRC) structures that also include conventional reinforcements (R/FRC); Development and implementation of FEM-based constitutive models for the analysis and design of R/FRC structures; Collaboration on recommendations for the analysis and design of R/FRC structures using advanced FEM-based computer programs.

Necessary qualifications: MSc degree in Civil Engineering or related field.

Recipients: Students of PhD Programme in Civil Engineering (proof of registration should be provided at the time of the contract processing); Applicants must comply with the eligibility conditions established in Article 9 of the FCT I.P Research Fellowship Regulation (Regulamento de Bolsas de Investigação da FCT I.P (2019))

Application deadline and form of submission of applications: The call is open from 03/08/2021 to 31/08/2021.

Applications must be made through an application letter together with the following documents: National identity card/Citizen card/passport/title of residence; Curriculum vitae of the candidate, in Portuguese or in English; Certificates of the academic degree(s) required, specifying the final grading (mandatory) and, if possible, the grades obtained in all the attended curricular units, or, alternatively, the candidate’s declaration of honour that the degree was obtained until the end of the term of application; Certificate of recognition of the academic degree awarded by a foreign higher education institution(s) and the conversion of the respective final grading into the Portuguese grading scale, or, alternatively, the candidate’s declaration of honour that the recognition of the foreign degree was obtained until the end of the application period; Motivation letter, in Portuguese or in English.
